Tour Sanibel and Captiva Islands with George and Crissa
@georgeandcris
George & Crissa Prieto, a young couple from Tampa who sold everything to become full-time RVers, planned an unforgettable stay in the Fort Myers area. Their adventure included sunsets on Sanibel Island’s beaches, a kayak tour with Tarpon Bay Explorers through mangroves at J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, and poolside lounging at 'Tween Waters on Captiva Island. They dined at local favorites like Gramma Dot’s, Cheeburger Cheeburger, and Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille, and couldn’t resist repeat visits to The Shack for frozen custard.
Check out their favorite spots to eat, explore, and enjoy.

What stood out to you the most during your trip?
We noticed how kind all the locals were that we encountered. Whether at the hotels, restaurants, shops, or excursions, everyone we talked with was so nice, helpful, and passionate about their home.
What’s your favorite thing you ate or drank?
We loved the steak salad from Doc Fords, the cheese fries from Cheeburger Cheeburger, and the custard from The Shack. All the food we had during the trip was delicious!
What’s your favorite thing you did during your visit?
We most enjoyed the Sunset Dolphin Cruise. The sunset was stunning, the crew was so fun and informative, and we saw tons of dolphins.
What tips do you have for visiting the destination?
Stay flexible as weather can play a big role in what activities you can do. Another tip would be to get custard every night from The Shack just like we did.
What is your #1 can’t miss experience in Fort Myers?
Watch the sunset at The Sanibel Lighthouse - it was beautiful!
