Pine Island
Pine Island takes you back in time. Found just over "The Fishingest Bridge in the US" from Cape Coral, Pine Island eases into a rural landscape where the speed of life takes a back seat to independence, peace and quiet. Green stretches of pine flatwoods accent the spaces between the island's distinct yet neighborly communities of Bokeelia, Pineland and St. James.

James.
Once you cross from the mainland via Matlacha, head north to Bokeelia, where tropical fruit farms and market stands abound. Stop in at Pine Island Botanicals to see how they specialize in soil-grown and hydroponic produce.
The center of the island holds the keys to the past in Pineland, an archaeological site along the Calusa Heritage Trail. Stroll the 1-mile interpretive walkway at the Randell Research Center to learn details about the indigenous Calusa and their influence on the region through shell mounds and canals.
To the south, St. James City is full of island breezes and waterfront restaurants serving the freshest seafood – a true throwback to an Old Florida vibe.
