Calusa Heritage Trail Randell Research Center at Pineland

The Randell Research Center (RRC) is a permanent facility dedicated to learning and teaching the archaeology, history, and ecology of Southwest Florida. Situated in the scenic community of Pineland on the western shore of historic Pine Island, the RRC encompasses more than 60 acres at the heart of the Pineland archaeological site, a massive shell mound site extending across more than 100 acres from the mangrove coastline.

Visitors to the RRC can tour the Calusa Heritage Trail, a 7/10 of a mile interpretive walkway that leads visitors through mounds, canals and other features of the Pineland archaeological site, including a variety of plants, birds and other wildlife.

Exhibitions on Pine Island pioneers featuring artifacts from archaeological research on the island, including Calusa Indian artifacts.

We are currently open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 11-3. Please contact us to arrange special tours and we will open the museum for you.
