"Strike Up the Band" Concert by the Southwest Florida Concert Band

Get ready for an afternoon filled with big sounds, Broadway favorites, American classics and music guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Join the Southwest Florida Concert Band, under the direction of J. Steven Moore, for Strike Up the Band, featuring guest vocalist Whitney Grace.

We’ll kick things off with the fiery rhythms of Symphonic Dance No. 3 “Fiesta” before traveling through the distinctly American sounds of American Riversongs. The program also features the stately Standard of St. George, the high-spirited Wild One Circus March and a swinging Big Band Showcase.

Guest vocalist Whitney Grace takes center stage for music from two Broadway sensations, Chicago and Wicked, along with the timeless Gershwin favorite But Not for Me.

We’ll also welcome Lorian Moore for another Gershwin classic, They Can’t Take That Away from Me.

And with a concert called Strike Up the Band, you know we couldn't leave out the rousing Gershwin favorite that inspired our title!

From Broadway and big band to marches, American folk melodies and the music of George Gershwin, this is an afternoon designed to entertain from beginning to end.
