Piper & The Hard Times

“One of America’s premier new blues groups” Nashville Scene

2024 International Blues Challenge Winners | 2025 Blues Music Award Winners | #1 Billboard Blues Album

The Nashville-based band tears across the boundaries of blues, R&B, soul, funk, and rock, pairing serious instrumental firepower with irresistible grooves, strong melodies, and the commanding vocals of Al “Piper” Green. Alongside Steve Eagon and Dave Colella, Green forms the core of a musical partnership more than 20 years in the making—and you can hear it in the way the band plays: tight when it needs to be, fearless when the music opens up.

That chemistry took Piper & The Hard Times all the way to Memphis, where they captured first place in the Band Division of the prestigious 2024 International Blues Challenge.

Then came Revelation. Recorded at the legendary Ronnie’s Place at Soundstage Studios in Nashville, the album climbed to #1 on Billboard’s Blues Albums chart and earned the 2025 Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album.

From New Orleans-flavored grooves and Texas shuffle to funk-rock and slow-burning blues, Piper & The Hard Times don’t simply play the blues—they show just how much territory the blues can cover.
