The Laboratory Theater welcomes Theatre Conspiracy for a collaboration of Adam Szymkowicz’s Clown Bar Christmas, Dec. 5 - 21.

This holiday season, theater audiences in Southwest Florida are in for an off-the-wall, immersive comedic treat as two powerhouse companies, The Laboratory Theater of Florida (The Lab) and Theatre Conspiracy, join forces for the first time to present Adam Szymkowicz's Clown Bar Christmas Dec. 5 - 21.

Forget sugar plums and carols—this is Christmas noir, served straight up. Clown Bar Christmas is a hilarious and hard-boiled prequel to the original cult hit, Clown Bar. It’s Christmas Eve at the Clown Bar, and the place is packed with attitude and holiday mischief. The clowns stir up chaos, make bad choices, and celebrate the season in the funniest and most unpredictable ways.

Set against the backdrop of this chaotic establishment during the holiday season, the play plunges into a world of broken oaths, criminal capers, and exaggerated slapstick, offering a refreshingly irreverent alternative to traditional Christmas fare. Directed by Bill Taylor, with costumes by Diana Waldier, and stage management by Tiffany Campbell, Clown Bar Christmas features Scott Thomson (Dusty), Lauren Drexler (Old Spatchy), Lucy Sundby (Shotgun), Christian Rivero (Bobo), Jamie Carmichael (Zuzu), Kelly Rivadulla (Blinky), Shelley Sanders (Petunia), Gerrie Benzing (Zippy), Daniel Sabiston (Timmy), Cicero McCarter (Giggles), Steven Coe (Happy), Madelaine Weymouth (Popo), Tiffany Campbell (Tipbe), and Patricia Idlette (Mango).

Director Bill Taylor says, “Clown Bar Christmas is the most fun you’ll have this holiday season that doesn’t involve bail money, featuring a wild mix of gangsters and holiday spirit, all set in the seediest clown joint in town. The bar’s full of wisecracking crooks, broken hearts, and enough Christmas chaos to make Santa blush. The clowns sing, drink, and shoot their way through twisted versions of their favorite Christmas stories and somehow land on a bit of Christmas magic.
