Burrow Buddies – Masking Tape Sculpting with Jeff Ocasio

Learn to sculpt your own expressive owl inspired by our underground feathered neighbors using unconventional methods and materials. The class is suitable for all skill levels, from beginners exploring their creativity to experienced artists wanting to experiment with new mediums.

Jeff’s teaching style is relaxed and conversational, encouraging individual creativity. You will learn how to layer and manipulate masking tape and paper, using glass marbles for the eyes, and wire for the legs and beak, to build a sturdy, free-standing burrowing owl, standing roughly 8 inches tall. By the end of the class, you’ll have your own unique masking tape-sculpted owl as well as an instructional guide detailing how to seal and paint the sculpture at home using easy to find materials. The class kicks off with a short tour of the ocasiocasa art studio, along with other artists’ studios within DAAS CO-OP Gallery and The Union Artist Studios at the Arts & Eats Café.
