Sports Illustrated Celebrates Power Partners at South Seas Resort
What if you could recreate the vacation of a high-profile celebrity, athlete, entrepreneur, or actor? It's entirely possible right here on Captiva Island. At the newly transformed South Seas Resort, the life partners of world-famous athletes enjoyed a day of sunshine in front of the cameras for Sports Illustrated's annual WAGS (wives and girlfriends) issue.
Against the backdrop of dreamy surroundings throughout the 330-acre retreat and wildlife preserve, Sports Illustrated photographers snapped photos of:
- Brittany Mahomes, founding co-owner of the KC Current, soccer star, personal trainer, mom of three, and wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes
- Christen Harper Goff — model, actor and a Sports Illustrated alumna — who is married to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff
- Claire Kittle, a former University of Iowa basketball player, blogger and wife of San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle
- Haley Cavinder, a former Miami Hurricanes guard and influencer, who is engaged to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson.
- Normani, a 10-time platinum solo artist and former member of Fifth Harmony, who is engaged to Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf.
- Ronika Love, a record-holding pro volleyball player for the San Diego Mojo, who is married to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.
Each cover star shared their personal definition of a WAG and how it fits into their unique identities beyond being a powerhouse partner.
Since the 1980s, South Seas resort has been a prime destination for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and its new transformation created the perfect setting for this series of cover shots. It offers a perfect combination of relaxing and gathering seashells on tranquil beaches, sailing coastal waters, kayaking through the mangroves, and watching marine wildlife.
