Got some extra time before your flight? Instead of watching the clock at the gate, squeeze every last drop of enjoyment from Southwest Florida with these nearby restaurants and layover activities. Everything is within a short distance from Fort Myers Airport (RSW), so there's no stress about timing — just one more opportunity to make memories together.

A family walks into Backyard Social in Fort Myers beneath colorful murals and outdoor string lights.

Who needs an airport lounge when you have Backyard Social just three miles away? Relax on the patio with a craft beer in hand, challenge each other to a game of duckpin bowling or darts, listen to live music, and grab a bite from a food truck. It's the easiest way to kick back before your flight.

You'll want to carve out extra time to hit up HeadPinz Fort Myers. Only five miles from the airport, this massive 50,000-square-foot entertainment center is home to over 40 arcade games, laser tag, bowling, and full-sized shuffleboard — not to mention plentiful drinks and menu items. Next door is FastTrax Entertainment, Florida's longest multi-level go-kart track. Multiple tracks offer fun for all ages and skill levels — even a kids track for ages 3 to 6.

Under 10 miles from the airport, Topgolf is the top spot to tee off and have a drink or a meal. Private hitting bays make it easy to perfect your stroke and engage in some friendly competition.

About 15 minutes from the airport, Gulf Coast Town Center is an all-in-one open-air experience. Put on a headset and enter another dimension at Sandbox VR, shop at more than 70 retailers and enjoy one last amazing meal with scores of top eateries before it's time to go home.

Drop in and take a few swings at D-BAT Fort Myers, where you can rent a batting cage for 30 minutes or an hour without being a member and you can use both baseballs and softballs, with fast pitch and slow pitch options.

Time your trip right and you'll catch the Red Sox in action. Spring training at JetBlue Park takes place between late February and early March, and the state-of-the-art stadium is a great place to explore. It replicates Fenway Park's dimensions and even has its own Green Monster in the left field. And, it’s only 1.5 miles from the airport!

Sip and savor a glass at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant, only 7.5 miles from the airport. Wine tastings are walk-in only, so no reservation is required. If you can, arrive in time for happy hour cocktails and international wines by the glass for $8 and small bites starting at $10.
