HISTORY OF THE SYMPHONY

Founded in 1996 by its current music director and conductor, Dr. Andrew Kurtz, the Gulf Coast Symphony is the premier community orchestra of Southwest Florida and one of the most dynamic community orchestras in the United States. We have recognized for our high-quality symphonic performances as well as our active community engagement and commitment to arts education.

Florida Arts, Inc. nurtures innovation and excellence in the visual and performing arts via exhibitions, performances, education, and community outreach.  Through our development and management of the Sidney and Berne Davis Art Center, we carry on the legacy of Berne Davis and her mission to provide a world-class venue and open access to the arts for all Members of the Southwest Florida Community.

Shangri-La Springs is a historic hotel located on 8.5 acres of land in the heart of beautiful Downtown Bonita Springs, Florida. Built in 1921, it is the perfect destination for a boutique hotel experience. A full menu of spa treatments, fine brunch dining, destination wedding venue, meeting spaces and more can be found here. The Blue Zones Project® recognized property specializes in offering guests a nexus of beneficial practices, activities and engagement opportunities that include wellness and yoga classes, art shows and special programs.

This 730-acre preserve was purchased through Lee County's Conservation 20/20 Program, in cooperation with the Calusa Land Trust. The pine flatwoods of this preserve offer wonderful nature hiking and wildlife observation opportunities.

Island hop to beaches accessible by boat with Award Winning Guide Captain Brian Holaway.  Trips depart McCarthy's Marina - Captiva Island to explore outer islands on this custom trip for 1-6 passengers. View birds, collect shells, see dolphins, take photos, relax and explore islands only accessible by boat. Trips may include North Captiva, Cayo Costa State Park, Cabbage Key or the Tarpon Lodge area on Pine Island.

The River District Alliance is the non-profit entity that represents downtown property owners, merchants and residents as the focused voice to elected official and local decision makers. Our goal is to promote and enhance the continued development of the historic downtown as a hub of economic, social and cultural activity. All year, RDA hosts a series of Friday evening (and annual) events that have become the most popular block party style gatherings in Lee County.
