What is the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest?
The Island Hopper Songwriter Fest (IHSF) is an annual music festival in Fort Myers. Since 2014, it’s drawn some of country music’s greatest singer-songwriters from Nashville and nationwide. The 10-day festival includes over a hundred shows, most of which are free and in small, intimate venues.
IHSF is produced by Fort Myers, BMI, iHeartMedia and Cat Country 107.1, and was recognized as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. It is an award-winning festival. The 2017 Island Hopper Fest received three SunSational Awards through the Florida Festival & Events Association (FFEA), and the Southeast Tourism Society named Island Hopper one of their “Top 20 Events.”
This is what makes IHSF different from almost any other festival. Along with seeing big-name headliners, you can also meet the songwriters behind the big hits. Their names aren’t always in bright lights, but if you’ve listened to chart-topping songs from Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan or Carrie Underwood – then you’ve heard their music. These AMA-, CMA- and Grammy-winning songwriters are the heart and soul of country music, and we’re bringing them to the heart of Southwest Florida so they can perform the songs they love.
The lineup of songwriters changes every year, but performers tell us IHSF is among their favorite festivals to perform at. So you can expect to see plenty of familiar faces alongside new ones.
Tickets & Venues
True to its name, the Island Hopper Songwriter Festival will have you hopping between islands. For 10 days, you can find performances at more than 20 venues across Captiva Island, downtown Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach. And depending on the artist, the size of the venue can vary from poolside shows to beach bars or patios. Most of these shows are free, so plan ahead. Seating at small venues will fill up quickly on a first-come, first-served basis.
Grammy-winning singers and nominees are no strangers to IHSF either. This year's headliners include Rodney Atkins, Jerrod Niemann, Kristian Bush, Gone West, and Ryan Hurd. To see this year’s headlining artists, you’ll want to purchase tickets.
