The Ultimate Guide to Fort Myers Spring Training

For baseball fans from northern states, spring training is a fun opportunity to shake off winter a little early by traveling down to warmer climates to watch their favorite baseball teams gear up for the next season. Fort Myers is lucky enough to host two teams in the Florida Grapefruit League: the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox. Individual tickets and tables can be purchased at floridagrapefruitleague.com.

The Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox play their spring training home games in JetBlue Park, a stadium reminiscent of Fenway Park in Boston; it has its very own “big green monster” (little green monster?) wall in left field. Thankfully, it comes without the frigid temperatures of Boston in February. Keep your eye out for the Red Sox’s game schedule, as it changes every year. The Red Sox tend to play in Fort Myers throughout the months of February and March, so plan accordingly.

The Minnesota Twins

Speaking of the Twins, they play their home games in Hammond Stadium at CenturyLink Sports Complex, right next to Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. Hammond Stadium has a façade inspired by Louisville’s Churchill Downs, but the only races taking place here are to the bases. While the stadium might not have the capacity of Target Field in Minnesota, it is blessedly free of snow. Also with games throughout February and March, keep your eye on The Twins' spring training schedule during your visit to The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel.

Other Teams

The teams competing against the Twins and the Red Sox (and thus making appearances in Fort Myers) are the Pirates, Orioles, Mets, Cardinals, Rays, Phillies, Braves, Blue Jays, Yankees, Tigers, Nationals, Marlins and Astros.
