The Must Sees and Must Dos in Bonita Springs

Just south of Fort Myers lies Bonita Springs, a charming beach town with lots of things to do. About 40 minutes away from Fort Myers Beach, it’s perfect for taking a day trip or afternoon excursion to check out the area.

For The Adventure Traveler...

Take the The Wonder Gardens, for example, built in 1936 during Florida’s golden age of roadside attractions but now recently renovated. A lot has changed in the intervening 80 years, but it’s still home to rescued reptiles and birds native to Florida, including more than 40 alligators. Not only is there a host of exotic animals, but colorful and bizarre plant life cultivated over the years thrives here, too. This is a popular place to snap a picture of flamingo or peacock that roam freely around the property.

For The Relaxed Vacationer...

If you’re looking to pamper yourself and melt away any of the stress of traveling, head to the Hyatt Regency Stillwater Spa for an indulgent spa day. Full-body massages, facials and body treatments will soothe you and have you feeling your best for your days on the beach. Best of all, you don’t even need to be staying at the Hyatt to have access to the spa; it’s completely open to the public.

For The Wild Child...

Get out and take a walk into the wilderness at the Aubudon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. Walk over two miles of boardwalk through pine flatwoods, open prairies, and into North America’s largest forest of ancient bald cypress, a massive relative of the redwood. The forest is home to hundreds of alligators, otters, Florida Black bears, white-tailed deer, red-bellied turtles and more than 200 species of birds, including the largest colony of nesting wood storks in the United States. It’s an absolute must-see for a nature lover.

For The Beach Lover...

For an outdoor adventure that’s a little less swampy, enjoy the serene Bonita Beach Park. This beautiful public beach is also a short walk to watersport rentals and a beachfront restaurant.
