6 Can’t-Miss Fall Events
There’s no chill in the air in Fort Myers, but you’ll still find the sights and smells of fall throughout the season. From Halloween festivals with hay bales and pumpkins to spooky corn mazes and autumn-themed events on the beach, there’s something for adults and families alike. Here are six of our favorites.
Every October the German-American Social Club brings Munich to Cape Coral for one of the largest events of the season. With three stages and two dance floors, the oom-pah music never stops. And neither does the food. With heaping platters of sausages and schweinshaxen to stacks of potato pancakes and schnitzel, it’s a good thing there’s plenty of beer to wash it all down.
Halloween Carnival—Boca Grande
Load up your broomsticks and take the little ghosts and goblins to this not-too-spooky event the weekend before Halloween. The carnival kicks off with a costume parade followed by an afternoon of games, inflatable slides and obstacle course, cakewalk and tons more. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and candy (!!!) will be available.
Southern Fresh Farms Fall Festival—Fort Myers
The Southern Fresh Farms holds their annual Fall Festival complete with vendors, sweet tea and southern food, petting zoo and more. Make sure to bring the whole family on a hayride through the woods. Looking for something scarier? Hitch a ride on the “haunted hayride.” Parking and admission are free.
Farmer Mike’s Corn Maze—Bonita Springs
Farmer Mike is best known for supplying southwest Florida with fresh fruits, flowers and veggies for nearly two decades. But around Halloween, visitors are invited to test their wits and nerves in his twisty topsy-turvy corn maze. Larger portions of the maze are free from frights for the little ones, but those looking to be scared out of their skins are invited to come during the haunted maze hours.
American Sandsculpting Championship & Beach Festival—Fort Myers Beach
Coast over to Fort Myers Beach in mid-November for this gripping 10-day event. The festival includes world-class sand sculptors competing in a series of state championship contests, as well as amateur contests, quicksand speed sculpting competitions, demonstrations and lessons. There are also more than 50 vendors along with a kids’ activity area with bounce houses and slides.
Black Friday Trolley Event—Cape Coral
After a morning wrestling over juicers, coffee makers and big-screen televisions, hop on the trolleys in South Cape for the Annual Black Friday Trolley Event. Spend the evening out with friends stopping between 11 local bars where you can win prizes and maybe even meet Santa himself.
